Calgary, Alberta. We are searching for Junior and Intermediate Environmental
Planners/Project Managers to join our growing team.
We specialize in planning, permitting, strategy development and implementation, and
environmental services. We provide expertise to help our clients navigate through the complex
maze of environmental regulations and regulatory compliance required for projects across the
energy sector. Our clients are diverse and represent several markets including power
generation (renewables, thermal), oil and gas, electrical transmission and distribution,
and battery energy storage.

Job description
The ideal candidate will have a consulting or industry (power, pipelines, and/or construction)
background with the ability to build relationships with clients and regulatory agencies, along with
technical and project management experience supporting multi-disciplinary teams. The position
requires a collaborative approach with Maskwa’s team of subject matter experts from our
Environment, GIS, Planning and Permitting, Engagement, and Regulatory teams on a variety of
projects for a diverse range of clients. The ideal candidate will have a great attitude, a
willingness to grow as a professional, and can jump right in to contribute to our continued,
sustainable growth.
Core qualifications (minimum requirements)
• University degree (e.g., B.Sc. or M.Sc.) in an environment focused program such as
Environmental Science, Biology, or related discipline.
• Two to 5 years of environmental planning or project management experience.
• Familiarity and understanding of environmental regulatory requirements (e.g., federal
and provincial) across various biophysical disciplines (i.e., wildlife, wetlands, aquatics,
vegetation, and/or soils).
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize work.
• Team-oriented and suited to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Self-directed and able to work independently.
The preferred candidate will have the following attributes to support our team and our clients:
• Experience in applying regulations to various energy-sector projects.
• Experience preparing cost estimates and managing budgets.
• Sense of initiative, with an open-minded approach to participating in different types of
projects, tasks, and responsibilities associated with a growing business.

Core responsibilities
Core responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
• Assist in managing scope, timelines, deliverables, and budget for environmental projects
within the energy sector.
• Support the cost tracking, including monthly accruals and pre-bills for invoicing
purposes.
• Assist in the preparation and submission of regulatory applications (e.g., AER, AUC,
AEP, EPEA).
• Aid in business development efforts, including proposal writing.
• Build and maintain client and regulator relationships through effective communication
and interaction.
• Liaise with project teams and clients via phone, email, writing, and in-person meetings.
• Collaborate with staff across the company and externally in completing deliverables.
• Deliver in a fast-paced, dynamic working environment.
• Complete required corporate operation and administrative activities (time entry, expense
submissions, invoicing, reporting, etc.) as required, in a timely manner.
• Support Maskwa employees in day-to-day business operations

Compensation package

Location
This is a full-time position preferably based out of our Calgary or Edmonton office. Remote or
hybrid work arrangements would be considered.
