Mentoring Program

The ASPB mentorship program was established to provide a platform for ASPB registrants to share valuable knowledge and experience for their personal and professional development. The program is being designed to offer opportunities for cross-fertilization of professional expertise and ideas among ASPB registrants, where experienced professionals can share their knowledge and experience with early and new registrants while themselves developing important leadership skills.

The objectives of the program include the following:

  • To create opportunities for lifelong learning and professional development,
  • To provide a means for networking and sharing information about best practices, and 
  • To facilitate capacity-building to assist new residents of Alberta and internationally trained individuals.

Announcing our 2025 Mentorship Program!

We are excited to launch our 6-month Mentorship Program, designed to foster growth, professional development, and meaningful connections within our community. Running from February 1st to July 31st, this program is an incredible opportunity for both mentors and mentees to engage in impactful one-on-one mentorship tailored to their areas of practice.

Program Overview

  • Duration: February 1 – July 31, 2024
  • Time Commitment: Minimum of 3–4 hours per month
  • Structure: Monthly goals and agendas are collaboratively set by each pair.

Registration Details

Registration Opens: December 1, 2023
Deadline to Sign Up: January 15, 2024
You can sign up for the Mentorship Program while renewing your membership starting December 1. During the process, you’ll answer a series of questions that will guide us in matching you with a mentor or mentee within your area of practice. Matches are made randomly, ensuring a fresh and unbiased pairing experience.

Timeline

  • Dec 1 – Jan 15: Registration open
  • Jan 15: Registration closes
  • Jan 19: Deadline for signing Agreements and Liability forms
  • By Jan 31: Booklets (program guide) available or emailed upon form submission
  • Jan 15 – Feb 1: Pairing process and internal reviews
  • Feb 1: Matches emailed, program officially begins
  • May 1: Halfway check-in (feedback form sent to participants)
  • Aug 1: Program concludes (final feedback due by September 1)
  • Sept 1 – Dec 1: Adjustments made for the next Mentorship Program
