THE OPPORTUNITY
Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (“Triton”) is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Intermediate to Senior Level Environmental Professional to join a well-established team of environmental professionals, based in Prince George, BC.
The successful candidate will be responsible for executing assessment, remediation, and reclamation project phases from planning, through field implementation, and final reporting phases.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Leading phased environmental site assessment, remediation, and reclamation programs, including Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment (ESA)/Stage 1 Preliminary Site Investigation (PSI), Phase 2 ESA/Stage 2 PSI, and Detailed Site Investigations (DSI). Expect 25-50% of time to be field-based and sometimes in remote locations.
- Groundwater monitoring design, well installation, and sampling
- Spill contingency planning and response
- Providing technical and regulatory expertise regarding contaminated sites work and pre-construction/reclamation/restoration work, including that which may occur within the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR) in BC
- Writing high-quality reports, cost estimates, and proposals
- Completing senior review and acting as a Qualified Environmental Professional for reporting deliverables
- Liaising and negotiating with other partners, clients, regulators, contractors, and sub-contractors
- Leading technical teams to ensure the quality, cost, and timeliness of deliverables
- Providing mentorship and training for our environmental professional team
- Ensuring clients’ and Triton’s safety standards are maintained or exceeded
- Working collaboratively within Triton’s corporate culture
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate degree (B.Sc.) in soil science, environmental science, earth sciences, or related field. A graduate degree (M.Sc.) in a related discipline is an asset.
- Registered PAg with the British Columbia Institute of Agrologists, or a designation with another relevant professional organization in British Columbia. Declared professional practice areas/competencies should include land evaluation, remediation, and reclamation or equivalent.
- A minimum of five years of relevant experience in the environmental industry
- Knowledge and experience with soil classification and mapping using the Canadian System of Soil Classification
- Experience with Phase 1 and 2 Environmental Site Assessments (Stage 1 and 2 Preliminary/Detailed Site Assessments), soil sampling programs, groundwater monitoring programs, remediation, reclamation, and/or Reclamation Certificate applications, spill contingency planning and response
- Experience with British Columbia Provincial regulatory guidelines (e.g., BC Contaminated Sites Regulation, BC Hazardous Waste Regulation, BC Water Quality Guidelines, The Delegation Agreement Between the BC Energy Regulator and the Agricultural Land Commission, and Agricultural Land Commission policies P-10, P-11, P-12, and P-13)
- Experience with regulatory guidelines in other jurisdictions (e.g., Federal, AB, SK, NWT) is an asset.
- Excellent verbal communications skills
- Detail-oriented with solid organizational and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative working style
- Valid driver's licence from a Canadian province or territory acceptable for driving alone and with passengers in a work setting

SCHEDULE
The schedule for this position is a blend of both office work and field travel (25-50%).
COMPENSATON
The pay range can be anywhere from $80 000 to $125 000. The compensation is dependent upon candidate experience and qualifications.
