THE OPPORTUNITY
Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (“Triton”) is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Environmental Monitor to join a well-established team of environmental professionals based out of our Terrace and/or our Prince Rupert BC offices.
This position will appeal to individuals with a passion for working outdoors and who thrive in a construction environment. Successful candidates will be part of a team building world class projects that balance environmental protection with development. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Monitoring construction work activities as they relate to environmental protection, including implementation of environmental protection plans
- Monitoring and collecting water quality samples in both freshwater and marine environments
- Supporting pre-construction bird nest sweeps, and fish and amphibian salvage programs
- Preparing daily and weekly summary reports
- Attending project and safety meetings
- Promoting safety culture and complying with safety protocols
- Liaising with clients, regulators, and contractors
- Working collaboratively within Triton corporate culture
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary education (degree, diploma, and/or certificate) in biology, forestry, agriculture, environmental science, or related program
- Minimum of one year of experience as an environmental monitor
- Registration with a professional regulatory body is an asset
- Experience in fish salvage, water quality monitoring, pre-construction bird sweeps, and amphibian salvage an asset
- Adept in the operation and maintenance of required field sampling equipment
- Ability to identify and mitigate issues rapidly to ensure compliance within an active construction work environment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Able to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, regulators, and co-workers
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Detail oriented with solid organizational and time-management skills
- Physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions
- Willing to work on a shift rotation
- Valid driver's license from a Canadian province or Territory acceptable for driving alone and with passengers in a work setting

COMPENSATON
The compensation range for this position is $24 – 36 per hour, dependent on candidate qualifications and years of experience.
SCHEDULE
This is position will entail doing shift field rotational work. The schedule could vary and is determined by client project hiring needs.
